The Department of Zoning and Code Enforcement is comprised of the zoning officer, code enforcement officer, the building inspector and fire marshals. This department is responsible for reviewing plans, issuing permits, and completing inspections on all construction in the Township, including new residential and commercial buildings, additions, and renovations. The staff also provides technical assistance to the Zoning Hearing Board, Planning Agency, and Fire Code Appeals Board. The office is located in the Engineering Wing of the Plymouth Township Municipal Building and is open between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Permit Applications may be picked up during these hours. PERMIT REQUIREMENTS:
HIGHWAY PERMITS
Section 20-34 of the Plymouth Township Code requires a permit to open or break the surface of the ground for any purpose within the boundaries of any
public highway, road, street, avenue, public lane, public alley, or sidewalk or and to comply with other requirements pertaining to restoration.

USE AND OCCUPANCY PERMITS
A Use and Occupancy certificate needs to be issued prior to the use of any newly constructed area or whenever a new business starts or changes tenancy.
Use and Occupancy permits are required for all but the following:
- Resale of residential property
- Porches and patios, not enclosed
